"Steve has an amazingly thorough understanding of non-violent communication. He is able to readily respond to individuals' personal situations and to help them understand the importance of NVC Nonviolent Communication strategies. Our group found Steve's work quite helpful on the path to a joy-filled life."

Deep Listening, Respectful Speech
This group was unique among the Miami support groups available today. The NVC Nonviolent Communication group focused on giving the gifts of empathy
and understanding to anyone present who was in need. The entire group practiced the meditative stillness of mind and focused openness of heart--the hallmarks of compassionate communication. That way, all present could be a compassionate witness of the speaker's feelings and needs. This was done without judgment, evaluation, diagnosis, criticism or blame. "Appreciative Inquiry" questions might be asked to help someone get clarity.
I see NVC as a pure language of love. Reading Marshall Rosenberg's book was a wonderful eye opener--it showed me how I'd learned from my culture to perceive and speak in non-compassionate ways. Practicing the language of compassion was challenging, but with help from the NVC Nonviolent Communication practice group, I began to make significant changes in my everyday communication. The greatest gift comes from the quality of my relationships resulting especially from Steve's help and understanding. He is compassionate and truly models NVC clearly and effectively. I feel grateful for his inspired coaching, and to the Miami practice group for all their support. I feel very excited and hopeful when I witness the highly developed skills of people who have been practicing NVC longer than I."

NVC Nonviolent Communication is A Journey
Developing and empowering your interpersonal communication skills is a lifelong journey. Steve Pollack's NVC group gatherings offered a unique blend of both: practicing the fluid, organic NVC process, and practicing the giving of pure empathy. There was a built-in flexibility based on what needs were alive in the participants at the time when the
communication support group met. Some gatherings leaned more toward support while others focused more heavily on learning theory and practice exercises. It's all part of the journey.

"I met Steve many years ago when I was
looking for a yoga class, I had no idea that this class would change
my life. Steve introduced me to meditation and spiritual philosophies
that are now an integral part of my life. I have become more focused,
more calm and truly happy from the inside out. He also provided me with notes from his
NVC talks that I have referred back to when listening to someone who needs compassion. I have
been told that I have become very compassionate! Steve is not only inspirational, but
has a warm, inviting presence and a great sense of humor as well."

Dear Elizabeth,
When I saw how honestly you shared in NVC group yesterday, I felt impressed and touched.
You showed us how you are practicing deep humility, self-awareness, as well as self-honesty. These are huge challenges that few are willing to undertake.
When we do practice this kind of humility to meet needs for personal growth and learning...we transform the hurt and anger into gratitude. Then we can say to the person who said "don't let her get away with that"... we can express gratitude. We can share that the comments met my need for truthfulness and self-knowledge, self-introspection, etc.
It also met a need for support of my desire to change some of my habitual ways...
So, thank you, Elizabeth! This sharing met needs in the group of deep transformational learning.
Sincerely,
Steve
